Declaratory Statements

TFSA, Trade Forward Southern Africa, is a programme implemented by DAI and funded by the UK Government.


Whether you are involved in a TFSA project, sign up for a newsletter, or register for an event, TFSA handles your personal data with the utmost care. TFSA only uses your data for the purpose of processing the particular activity for which you supplied your details. TFSA does not retain your personal data for longer than necessary and does not sell or transfer it to others.

TFSA acts in accordance with the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and the UK Data Protection Act 2018 which control how your personal information is used by organisations, businesses or the government and is the South African and the UK’s implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

TFSA uses cookies to collect web statistics. A cookie is a small file which is saved on your computer, so that the next time you visit our website we can serve you better.

No personal data

We collect the following data for the web statistics:

  • the browser you use (for example Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox);
  • the time and duration of your visit;
  • the pages you visited.

How do we store this data?

Our website uses cookies, log files and JavaScript codes to store data. We use Google Analytics and MonsterInsights to collect web statistics.


TFSA Trade & Information Hub facilities and linked tools

Since TFSA does not control the content of any external facilities and tools which are collated into and signposted via the TFSA Trade and Information Hub, and while other content has been compiled with the greatest care, TFSA, DAI and the UK Government are not able to guarantee that the information provided is accurate and/or exhaustive, and cannot be held liable for claims pertaining to use of the information.

In the case of any publications, TFSA and the authors of the publications are not to be held responsible for any consequences that may arise from the use of the information. Furthermore, the information shall not be construed as legal advice. Original documents should, therefore, always be consulted where appropriate. The information does not release the reader from the responsibility of complying with any relevant legislation, regulations, jurisdiction or changes/updates of same.

In the case of the Internet tools, TFSA aims at minimising disruption caused by technical errors. However, TFSA cannot guarantee that its service will not be interrupted or otherwise affected by technical problems. TFSA accepts no responsibility with regard to problems incurred as a result of using this site or any linked external sites.

The information provided by TFSA is aimed at assisting the TFSA target group, i.e. exporters and business support organizations (BSOs) in developing countries. TFSA provides this information on a non-commercial basis. Though available for other parties besides the TFSA target group, these other parties may only take note of the information provided. The information provided by TFSA may, therefore, not be used for re-sale, the provision of consultancy services, redistribution, the building of databases or any other activities, on a commercial basis.

For utilisation of the TFSA information tools by the TFSA target group on a non-commercial basis, the condition applies that TFSA is referred to as the source of the information. All other use is prohibited, unless explicitly approved in writing by TFSA. No party other than TFSA is entitled to copy, reproduce, publish and/or distribute the CBI information in any way, in whole or in part. Any unauthorised use of the information is prohibited.

Accessibility Statement

The design of the TFSA Trade & Information Hun website was based on UK Digital Service web guidelines, blended with the Rapid Regional Information Use Assessments (RRIUA’s) undertaken across SACU+M, and the website was built by DAI’s Center for Digital Acceleration (CDA) taking issues of accessibility, into consideration.

The resulting key factors for setting up the Hub were focused on the RRIUA’s and the UK Digital Service recommendations to keep things low bandwidth to ensure accessibility by less affluent and bandwidth-restrained users:

  • The ‘look and feel’ is simple, easy to navigate and swift to directly deliver and channel information learning and support.

The following guiding protocols were kept in mind:

  • The look of pages should be clean and clear (this applies equally to webpages and to pdf and other info documents and flyers).
  • Information should be easily digestible at SME level and not be esoteric and high/macro level.
  • Pages should stick to as few topics as possible – a cluttered page is difficult to read and restricts accessibility by users where bandwidth is limited, or viewing is mobile rather than pc based.
  • The number of menus or links on a page should not be excessive and should be logically organised
  • Banners and logos should be smart and distinctive
  • Use of distracting features such as flashing images should be minimized
  • Navigational features should be logical and intuitive to minimize the number of steps needed to discover information
  • Website is mobile friendly/compatible
  • Our choice of fonts etc. was directly drawn from UK Digital Service stipulations aimed at scalability of fonts.
  • Videos will be translated with Portuguese captions.
  • Audio tracks are completely volume adjustable.
  • Any PDF documents are automatically magnify-able.
  • The website does allow the browser to scale so as to increase text size for vision-challenged users
